Silent Night, Deadly Night
This was one of the best IPWA shows to date, as has been said by those in
attendance, and the wrestlers themselves. This show was FILLED with returns and
debuts, and many matches were already made for Broken Resolutions in January.
The first match saw the highly anticipated ring-return of our Co-General
Manager, A.J. Moore against Nate Flames. AJ picks up the win after an attempted
interference by IPWA Heavyweight Champ, Draven Cross.
Then, for the first time in IPWA history, there was a "Loser Wears A Dress
Match" between Kanibus and "The Monster" Matt Dreez. The match itself was
brutal, and after a series of head butts knocked Kannibus unconscious, Matt
Dreez was declared the victor. Kannibus, after waking up in a beautiful purple
dress, became irate, and stormed off to the back.
In the next match, we saw both the debut of Eddie Vandal, and the return of
one of the most unique performers in this region, The Freakshow. This match was
a back and forth contest showcasing two extremely talented individuals. At one
point in the match, Freakshow was knocked to the outside, and a former wrestler
in the IPWA, "The Iceman" J.D. Forsythe, stepped out of the audience and tossed
Freakshow back in. Freakshow picks up the win in the end.
Big Daddy Rog Cox and Hank Calhoun beat the living daylights out of one
another, and Rog Cox even gave us his version of a dropkick...which was more
like a "fall-kick", but never mind. In the end, Wildman Rogers interfered
causing Rog to be disqualified. Big Daddy was NOT happy about this, as Wildman
apologized over and over again.
The fans of IPWA went online and voted for Big Brother Almighty and Tyson
Judge to go one on one in a "Dayton Street Fight". The match was all over the
place, and these two brutalized each other. After the ref realized the match was
out of control, he declared this a "No Contest".
At our last show, our Ohio State Champion threw down the title and walked out
of the IPWA, leaving the title vacated. A battle royal was held to determine a
new champion. This match was totally off the charts, and The Freakshow was
eliminated FIVE times. Four during the battle itself, and once more by security
when he attempted to enter again. In what many consider a shocking turn of
events, Nate Flames tossed out Jon Austin to become the Ohio State Champion!
Afterwards, the IPWA Heavyweight Champion Draven Cross came to the ring in what
looked like an attempt to congratulate Flames on his victory, only to beat the
living hell out of him. J. Devious, making his return to the IPWA, rushed to the
ring to try and stop Cross, but then shocked the audience by also attacking
Flames. Security rushed to the ring to stop the beat down, and as they were
distracted, several participants from the battle hit the ring and obliterated
Flames.
Devious, with Draven Cross, then grabs the mic and begins to tear down the
fans and the reemerging UCW. This brings out Sheik Udy Muhammad and the Mexican
Mafia. After a brief exchange of words, the 6 man tag that was to take place
began, pitting IPWA Tag Team Champions (who are also in possession of the UCW
Title with Aaron Extreme) The High Spot Kings with Draven Cross against Sheik
and The Mafia. Whoever's team won would take all of the titles. After what many
considered to be the match of the evening, Draven Cross and The High Spot Kings
picked up the win. After the match, AJ Moore, accompanied by Matt Shock, hit the
ring and attacked Draven Cross for interfering in his match earlier, knocking
Draven unconscious. The Boss, J.L. Thrush then told AJ that since he wanted a
piece of Cross so bad, that at Broken Resolutions, it would be AJ Moore taking
on Draven Cross for the Heavyweight title. Due to Draven being unconscious at
the time, his manager J. Devious reluctantly accepted the match on Draven's
behalf.
In our main event, "The Lunatic" Jon Austin, who was accompanied to the ring
by Uncle Simon, defended his IPWA Television Title against Johnny Suede. J.L.
Thrush acted as special referee in this match. I say acted, because he did
almost nothing in this match except sit on a turnbuckle. These two went at each
other with chairs, baking sheets, and anything else they could get their hands
on. J.L. Thrush then shocked us by pretending to be the voice of Austin, and
submitted on his behalf, thus declaring Johnny Suede the new Television Champ.
Then, in what I consider to be an act of cowardice, Thrush lays out Suede with a
stunner, thus leaving us all to wonder...who the hell's side is he on? Come see
our next wrestling extravaganza, BROKEN RESOLUTIONS, on January 31st at the
Merchant's Flea Market to see if we can find out.
